Brain for society, March 10-16, 2014
BAW 2014 Events at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest
The Brain Awareness Week (BAW) is celebrated in 2014 on March 10 – 16. The event, initiated by the American Foundation DANA (http://www.dana.org), aims to provide a global framework for disseminating knowledge of the importance of the brain for humanity. It aims to increase the awareness of the general public as well as of the policy makers of both the latest progress in understanding the mechanisms of normal and pathological brain functioning and of the problems faced by researchers in neuroscience that generate this progress.
The “Brain for Society” event is organized by National Neuroscience Society of Romania (http://www.snn.ro) in partnership with the Scientific Organization of the Medical Students (http://www.soms.ro) and “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy (http://www.umf.ro).
Main event sponsor is the Federation of the European Neuroscience Societies, FENS (http://www.fens.org/Outreach/Brain-Awareness-Programme/Brain-Awareness-Week/).
Participation is free. Pre-registration for the lectures is not required. For further information please contact SNN secretariat.
NB! The official language of the event is Romanian. The presentations will offer, whenever possible, support materials in English.
SNN in partnership with SOMS organizes a brainstorming competition on “What should we understand next about the brain to improve our society”.
Students from all disciplines are encouraged to send by email at contact@snn.ro the subject of their presentation, preferably formatted as scientific abstract -max. 250 words. The best abstracts will be selected for public presentation on Friday March 14th (short talks with video support, max 10 min.). The best 3 presentations will be awarded with the “FENS/Dana awards”.
The deadline for abstract submission for BAW competition was extended. The new deadline is Wednesday, March 12th 2014! The applicants selected for oral presentations will be notified by email on Thursday, March 14th 2014.
Preliminary program updated March 13th, 2014.
